Looking for More Exciting Indoor Games for Kids?
Having fun at home does not need to cost anything. In fact, all that is needed is a little imagination and a touch of creativity, and you are ready for a super fun day at home. If you would like extra ideas to help you have fun with the kids this autumn, why not give these a try?
1. Play Balloon Games
Balloons always mean fun, and if you have some leftover balloons from a party, you have all you need! Kids love balloon games, so why not get the whole family involved? There are loads of different games you can play with balloons.
Balloon tennis is a firm favourite with kids. Simply use your hand as a racquet to bat the balloon to each other. But will you be able to keep your rally going as you hit the balloon back and forth to each other? Not in the mood for tennis? Alternatively, you could pretend the floor is lava and try to keep the balloon in the air for as long as possible. Who will be the first to let the balloon drop onto the ground? Or, if you fancy a less energetic activity, how about a simple game of catch with the kids?
2. Build a Den
Building a den is the perfect indoor activity for kids and a surefire way to beat boredom. Making a den is super easy. All you need to get started is some cardboard to create the walls. Firstly, stand up your cardboard to form the outer shell of the den and get it into position to create the walls. After you make the walls, you can simply cut out a window and door. Next, let the kid’s creativity run free as they decorate their new den with coloured crayons and pens. This is an activity that will provide hours of creative and role play fun at home!
3. Get Creative in the Kitchen
Ready, steady, BAKE! Why not grab your aprons, pick some ingredients and bake up a storm? After you have everything ready, it is time to get creative. Firstly, you need to decide what to bake. Plain biscuits or cupcakes are a great choice, as the kids can decorate them with icing and sprinkles for extra fun. If making cookies, you could use cutters to form fun shapes ready to decorate. After letting the kids culinary creativity run free, you should be left with cakes and cookies that are worthy of the Bake Off! Next, you get to enjoy the best part; eating them!
4. Put on a Performance
This next indoor activity idea is the perfect opportunity to let the talents of your budding actors shine. First, grab the kids’ dressing-up clothes and then let their imaginations run wild. While you may be staying at home, you can still take an imaginary trip to the theatre. After putting on their fancy dress, your star performers can slip into character and have fun pretending they are on stage. From making up a play of their own to bringing one of their favourite stories to life, there are loads of opportunities for kids to entertain themselves and the rest of the family.
5. Host a Flying Contest
All you need is some paper for this fun indoor activity. Making paper planes is so simple, but provides an activity that will keep kids occupied for ages at home. Firstly, you will need to put your paper plane-making skills into action. Next, get the kids to decorate their planes with different colourful designs so that they don’t get mixed up. Finally, put your planes into action by seeing whose can fly the furthest! After seeing whose plane can fly the furthest, you could introduce some new challenges. Why not draw a target on some paper and place it on the floor to see which plane can land the closest? Or, use toy bricks to create your very own airport for paper plane arrivals and departures.
