There’s a chill in the air, and the leaves are changing from green to red, which means one thing… Halloween is almost here! The spookiest season is now creeping up fast, so it is time to start planning some trick or treating fun.  But the inevitable question is always going to be asked by kids excited to get those candy receptacles filled…

What time does trick or treating start this year?

As Halloween falls on a Monday this year, you may be wondering what time is the best time to start taking the children around so as to not be too early but also beat the sunset. There are no set rules on a specific time when kids should start trick or treating. But as it’s on a school night, you may want to get the walking started earlier. As the clocks go back just before Halloween, it will start to get dark around 5.30 pm, so, getting dressed up and ready for some trick or treating fun around this time should be perfect. Heading out between five and six will enable you to visit a good number of houses, soak up the spooky atmosphere, and collect plenty of sweet treats without disturbing the bedtime routine too much.

Start the Fun Early

As Halloween is on a school night this year, you may want to start the fun early. Kicking off your Halloween celebrations at home will pack as much fun as possible into the day. Playing Halloween games at home, such as apple bobbing, before you go out trick or treating will ensure that everyone has a great time without being too tired to get up for school the next morning.

Get Creative with Your Stash of Sweets

Arriving back home with a huge stash of sweets after trick or treating is sure to leave the kids feeling excited. So, putting the sweets to use with a fun activity is a great idea. Letting the kids loose with creepily-coloured icing and plain biscuits or cupcakes is a great way to keep them having a great time. Their sweets can be used to provide the finishing touch when decorating their Halloween bakes. Children will love getting creative with their sweet treats and making their own creepy cookies and cupcakes.
