Babies develop incredibly quickly in those first twelve months, learning new ways of thinking, communicating, and moving. In just a short time they\u2019ve gone from a newborn to a busy little explorer full of personality! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here at Wicked Uncle HQ, we know how important play is for children\u2019s development, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Growth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Movement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Motor Skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communication &amp; Language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We pulled together some of the best learning toys for 1 year olds, to engage their curiosity and support those exciting milestones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"growth\"><strong>Growth<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first twelve months of a baby\u2019s life are one rapid growth spurt. By their first birthday, babies have grown by 50%, their weight has tripled, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/parenting\/baby\/baby-development-1-year-old\">and their brain is already about 60% of its adult size<\/a>! And over the next few months, a baby will learn to stand up and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parents.com\/baby\/development\/walking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eventually take their first tentative steps.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the beginning, those steps will be unbalanced and unsteady. They\u2019re eager to engage in two-way conversations \u2013 although their contributions might be a bit limited!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Small children are mimics, and you can help grow a child\u2019s vocabulary by talking to them and identifying things they can see. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nct.org.uk\/baby-toddler\/learning-talk-and-communication-your-baby\/baby-talk-speech-development-12-18-months\">The more a baby hears a word, the faster they will remember it<\/a>.
